Leon Lee Smack, known fondly as "Buster" of Columbia, DE passed away quietly on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at his sister's home at the age of 94. He was born November 24, 1924 in Berlin, Maryland, the oldest of nine children. His parents, Elder Jehu and Missionary Georgianna Smack preceded him in death. Buster was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Jane Ennis Smack and a daughter, Diane Smack, and two sons, Herman Smack, and Leon Smack, Jr. He was a member of St. Matthew First Baptist Church in Laurel, DE. He was a former employee of the Fertilizer Plant in Laurel, the Swift Chicken Plant in Georgetown and he retired from Laurel Middle School as a janitor. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five siblings, Mable Smack, Gee Smack, Anna Smack-Stewart, Alberta Smack, Virginia Smack-Prattis. He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Mary Ann Drummond and her husband, Leroy, of Bridgeville, a son, William Harvey Smack of Wilmington, three sisters, Sarah Cummings, with whom he lived with of Seaford, Frances Camper of Salisbury, Rosa Handy of Seaford, two brothers-in-law, Gene Cummings, Emerson Prattis both of Seaford, three granddaughters, two grandsons, and great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 1 p.m. at St. Matthews First Baptist Church in Laurel with Bishop Ruth Batten serving as Eulogist. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. with interment in the church cemetery. www.framptom.com
