Philetus M. Pinckens “Dewey” of Federalsburg passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2017 surrounded by his family at home in Federalsburg. He was 77. He was born on February 9, 1941 in Federalsburg, Maryland the son of the late Lacy McKinley Pinckens and Zilda Lucretia Pinckens. He graduated from Lockerman High School with the class of 1960. After graduation, he worked for a poultry farm. He later developed skills for a life- long career as a brick mason. He was married to Bessie Thomas Pinckens. She preceded him in death on October 11, 2013. A true outdoorsman, he loved working outside and was an avid hunter. He was a life-long member of Zion United Methodist Church in Federalsburg. In his younger days, he played baseball for various leagues and was offered a try out for the Cleveland Indians and the Baltimore Orioles. He is survived by two sisters, Cleo Beulah and Jacqueline Pinckens both of Federalsburg, and one brother Marion Pinckens of Seaford, DE; one sister in law, Cora Pinckens of Federalsburg, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister Roselle Curtis and two brothers, Blakely Pinckens and Andrew Pinckens. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 1:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Reverend Herman Camper officiating. Burial will follow at Federal Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 to 1:00. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Caroline Hospice, 613 South 5th Ave., Denton, MD 21613.
