Mary Elizabeth "Bootsie' Meredith's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth “Bootsie” of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 at William Hill Manor in Easton. She was 88 years old.
She was born March 29, 1920 and was raised in the Oak Grove, Delaware area. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Lyda Mae Moore Blades. Her husband, Wright “Tony” Meredith preceded her in death.
She was employed by the Town of Federalsburg as a Town Clerk for over 25 years. She had been a member for the past 64 years at Christ United Methodist Church in Federalsburg where she was very active. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Senior Choir, and Philathea Circle. She served in the nursery for many years, and taught Bible School. She was very active in local fund raising activities for the American Heart Association Caroline County Unit, and also in the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by two children, Judith A. Gregory and her husband, Paul of Charlottesville, VA, and Larry A. Meredith and his wife, Susan of East New Market, four grandsons, Todd Meredith, Neil Gregory, Curtis Gregory, and Ryan Meredith, four great-grandchildren, Marina, Brennan, Trevor, and Izzie, and many nieces and nephews. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Dan Walker and Rev. Karen Bongard officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 600 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
