Alice E. Watson's Obituary
Alice Elizabeth Watson, age 91 and a long time resident of Federalsburg, died at William Hill Manor in Easton, MD on Sunday, December 31, 2006.
She was born in Milford, DE on January 15, 1915 the daughter of the late Harry G. Jester and Elizabeth Hobbs Jester. Her husband, Harry Atwood Watson preceded her in death on October 15, 1990.
During her life she worked for several years in the cafeteria at the E. I. Dupont Co. Nylon plant in Seaford, DE, for Excelsior Pearl Works, for a time owned and operated a grocery store called Family Grocery and also worked in the cafeteria at Federalsburg Elementary School.
She joined Christ United Methodist Church over 60 years ago and was a member of its Philathea Circle.
She is survived by a son, Carl A. Watson of Federalsburg and a daughter, Carolyn A. Watson Sturgis of Portsmouth, VA, seven grandchildren, Randall L. Watson of Baltimore, MD, Alison R. Cook and her husband, Ralph, Jr. of Seaford, DE, Carla R. Neugroshell and her husband Jeffrey of Cambridge, MD, Sheila Watson of Hurlock, MD, David A. Sturgis of Panama City, FL, Kenneth A. Sturgis and his wife Melissa of Hampton, VA, Linda A Sturgis of Washington, D.C., six great-grandchildren, Daniel Cook and his wife, Erinn of Ocean Pines, MD, Jason Cook of Bethany Beach, DE, Erin Ruark and her husband Jonathan of Herndon, VA, Cari Christopher of Staten Island, NY, Ashby M. Sturgis and Britt W. Sturgis both of Hampton, VA a sister, Ida Mae Fansler of Ocean City, New Jersey and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Harry Jester, Arthur Jester, George Jester, Carl Jester and Charles Jester and two sisters, Hattie Whaley and Annie Betts.
Funeral services for her will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2006 at 12 noon at Framptom Funeral Home, P. A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Dale Evans and Rev. Dan Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 to 12:00 noon.
