Angeline Patton Leyden's Obituary
Angeline Patton Leyden passed away on January 14, 2023, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, MD. Angeline was born on August 28, 1942, daughter of James Barrett Patton, Jr. and Agnes Amelia Fishell Patton, then of Federalsburg, MD.
Angeline graduated from Federalsburg High School in 1960. Following graduation, she joined the Women's Army Corp and married a fellow soldier. She served in Germany, and after being honorably discharged, they had a son in 1963.
When the marriage ended in 1965, Angie began her long dedicated career, as an employee of Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Washington, D.C. Along the way, she remarried and for twenty years, she and Russ made a home in the suburbs. They remained lifetime friends, though ultimately living separately.
When BC/BS downsized, Angie took early retirement in 1994. For several years, she pursued sales and office positions in the Alexandria, VA area, including Lindsay Cadillac. Angie returned to the Eastern Shore in 2003, buying a home in Delmar, MD. For the next ten years, gardening was a passion. She transformed her yard into a sanctuary, filling the air with the sound of birds. She was happy, living leisurely and spending more time with her parents, and other elderly relatives. She liked the time for favorite interests, antiquing, thrift shopping, and home decorating.
Angie was a dedicated fan of talk radio and followed national politics. Computer knowledge and the Web, which had been an integral part of her work years, remained a constant. Angie loved her closeness to Federalsburg, being near her school friends, and looked forward to joining them for regular lunch dates.
Angeline is survived by her sister, Patricia Patton Taylor; niece Elizabeth P. Mason and her husband, Michael J. Mason, and their three children: Nolan, Graham and Amelia, all of Salisbury. She is also survived by brother, Ronald J. Patton, wife, and son James, all of Milford. Sadly, her son Paul Barrett Leyden died in 2001.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21 at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, MD. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Angeline's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105
