Anious Corene Parker's Obituary
Anious Corene Parker (December 21,1930-December 3, 2023)
A woman who tirelessly committed her life to the well-being and support of five young boys, whom through her patience, longsuffering, and sacrifice, she willed to be men. She will forever be remembered as a pillar of strength or as she liked to put it a "tough piece of leather well put together". Anious Corene Parker 93, of Preston, Maryland died at Mallard Bay Nursing Home on December 3rd, 2023.
Corene was born in Seaford Delaware, in the year 1930 to Harry and Rosa Ricketts on a small farm near Coverdale Crossroads in Seaford. Corene always recalled her childhood, often reminding us that "you could take the girl out of the country but never the country out of the girl". Corene attended Fredrick Douglas High School in Seaford DE and Delaware State College, Dover DE ,before going to work and retiring from both Dupont and as a bus driver for Caroline County Public Schools.
Corene was a devoted wife of 40 years to her late husband Clarence Parker. She was preceded in death by her Daughter Marlene Rosa Baltimore. She is survived by her grandchildren, Michael R. Baltimore Jr, Marcus M. Baltimore, Myron L. Baltimore, Marlon B. Baltimore and Adrian M. Baltimore. Mom mom as she was affectionately known by them was the backbone of their childhood, unwavering in strength, courageously undertook the responsibility of shaping the futures of these young men at the age of 66, enduring challenges and triumphs along the way. Corene's dedication and resilience stand as a testament to this day in the minds and hearts of all those who loved her.
Corene was a determined and driven woman, always pushing to accomplish whatever was before her. She moved at a pace that could easily be seen in her gate, to wherever it was she was going, it was a stride of purpose.
A woman of Faith, Corene was an active member of Mt Calvery Methodist Church devoting her time and energy to Christ. Faithfully she would remind her grandchildren that "God did not like ugly and he was always watching".
For those that knew her well her straight talk and determination gleaned through her conversation of selflessness. Corene had a knack for remembering every tag, phone and identification number know and by most of us unknown. She had an attentiveness and sharpness into her old age, often times beating her great grandchildren in crossword puzzles and arithmetic.
She will be remembered for her unwavering resilience against every obstacle, sense of humor and love by action. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those whom she sacrificed all for, she will be missed.
