Anita Anne Fawcett's Obituary
God decided to call our warrior of a Mom home today.
Anita Anne Fawcett, age 68, passed away Sunday, March 9th 2025 at 4:15am from metastasized Small Cell Lung Cancer at her home in Tilghman Island surrounded by family. Anita was born and lived in Rebka, Poland until age 11 when she immigrated to the United States with her Mom and brother Gene to live with her new step father Joseph McHale.
She met her soulmate, David Fawcett at age 14 and married him at age 22 in 1979. She was a natural life-long caregiver. A nurse for 41 years, a mother of 3, and secondary mom of 4 to her younger siblings. She was everything you would want your mother, wife, sister, daughter, Mimi, friend, and nurse to be; her capacity for love and support was endless.
She made childhood magical for her children. She helped welcome her grand daughter into the world and thankfully stayed long enough to ensure Sawyer knew her love. She was an avid gardener and a proud PWIC and community volunteer. A professional wanderer, she enjoyed adventures big and small. She was an effortless host and genuinely enjoyed befriending people from all walks of life.
She was both classy and sassy. Nicknamed "The Pearl Lady", she made wearing pearls appropriate in every occasion, whether she was in her work scrubs or kayaking near her home in Tilghman Island.
Lastly, and perhaps most significantly she was a fighter. She fought cancer for 5 years and was determined to go on her beloved walks up until the very end.
Please join our family in honoring and celebrating the life of Anita Anne Fawcett during funeral services on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at The Tilghman Island Methodist Church. The viewing will take place from 1:00 to 3:00PM followed by a church ceremony and eulogy from roughly 3:00- 4:30pm. All are welcome.
