Anna Mae McNamara's Obituary
Anna Mae McNamara, of St. Michaels, departed this life peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at her home. She was 78.
She was born on February 9, 1938 in New York and was a daughter of the late William Grell and Katherine Rogers Grell. Her husband, John Patrick McNamara, preceded her in death.
Anna Mae was employed as an Insurance Claim Auditor for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She obtained her EMT training and was a member of the Chester Volunteer Ambulance Core. Anna was a very social person and could often be found volunteering in the several communities in which she lived. She enjoyed knitting, reading, crocheting, shopping, lunch dates, and taking walks. Anna Mae had a special connection with Saint Rose of Lima church in Gaithersburg, MD and it was important part of the development of her faith. One of Anna Mae’s proudest moments was receiving the Sacrament confirmation in June of 2014.
She is survived by three children, William McNamara and his wife Joan, of St. Michaels, John McNamara and his wife Jeanne of Lake Ariel, PA, and Nancy McNamara of Manhattan, NY; four grandchildren, Bridget McNamara Zangueneh, Conor McNamara, Sean McNamara, and Meghan McNamara.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Easton, MD with Father Glenn Evers officiating. Interment will be private. Family will receive friends on Tuesday February 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ostrowski Funeral Home in St. Michaels.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Anna Mae’s memory to St. Michael's Community Center, 103 Railroad Ave, St Michaels, MD 21663.
