Arthur Donovan's Obituary
Arthur Donovan of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Sat. April 9, 2011 at Talbot Hospice in Easton, MD. He was 95.
He was born Feb. 15, 1916 at Dublin Hill in Sussex County the son of the late James and Lilly Wheeler Donovan. He was preceded in death by his wives, Pauline Elizabeth Passwaters Donovan, in 1982, and Daisy Lily Handy Donovan, in 2004.
He retired from the former Mulholland-Harper in Denton as a sign maker. He had also been employed by the former Excelsior Pearl Works in Federalsburg. He was a member of New Liberty Wesleyan Church in Federalsburg where he had served as Treasurer of the Building Fund and assisted the Church Treasurer.
He is survived by a daughter with whom he made his home, Shelva Jean Gray and her husband, Robert of Federalsburg, two sons, James Donovan and his wife Diana of Easton, and Wayne Donovan and his wife Susan of Kansas City, KS; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren, and 4 step-children, Gladys D. Auld of Seaford, DE, Jane Joseph, Robert L. “Bobby” Donovan of Bridgeville, DE, and Darlene Beauchamp of Federalsburg and many step grandchildren.
Three sons, Edward Donovan, Elwood Donovan, Carl Donovan and a daughter, Bessie Wheatley Truitt and four step-children, Toby Donovan, Sewell Donovan, Melvin Donovan and Katherine Burklew preceded him in death.
Funeral services for him will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 12:00 noon at New Liberty Wesleyan Church with Rev. Doug Thornburgh officiating. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 to 12:00.
