Barbara B. (Bayer) James' Obituary
Barbara Bayer De Veau James
Easton, On June 15, 2013 our Lord called Barbara Bayer De Veau James to join his celestial choir. Barbara, the beloved and devoted wife of Donald E. James was born in Cleveland Ohio on June 14, 1944 while her father was overseas participating in the Normandy invasion of France. She was a graduate of the Strayer University School of Business and a retiree of the Otis Elevator division of United Technology Corporation. She served on the vestry of Christ Episcopal Church Easton, had sung in the choir for over twenty years and had also served as a Stephens minister. Her love of music and singing led to more than twenty years of active participation with the Easton Choral Arts Society which gave her the 2011 President’s award for service to the organization. She made several trips to Europe singing with the group in England, Wales, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. She also made trips to Armenia, Kenya and Israel, exploring and applying the principles of her Christian faith. In 1995, the Upper Shore Chapter of The American Diabetes Assn. of Maryland gave her a plaque as the Chapter Volunteer of the Year. In addition, she prepared meals when requested for several years for Talbot Hospice. For years she told Donald of a desire to see the Great Wall of China. In the year 2000 she, Donald and her sister Julia joined a “People to People” delegation for two weeks in China. Barbara not only saw the Great Wall, but she climbed it and has an official certificate prove it. She is survived by her husband of thirty one years, Donald, her son Michael and his wife Lori and children Courtney, Rachael and Wesley De Veau, her son Christopher and his wife Shelley and children Carly, Kayla and Kelsy De Veau, her step children Terry, and Gary James, and Donnelle James Glatz, also by her sister Julia Markham and her family.
