Barbara Mae Jones' Obituary
Barbara Mae Jones was granted her angel wings on November 30, 2023. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. Born November 12, 1948, to the late Susie Mae Cottom and Braddis Brown in Federalsburg, MD.
Barbara's life would seem vibrant to many, and those who were touched by her, understood that she never met a stranger. She was always visiting and dropping in on family and friends, and the sick and shut in. Her gentle smile, fondness for conversation and adventurous personality was sure to brighten your day no matter what. Starting her work life as a Farm Laborer, in Preston, MD for the Quidas family. She decided to further her career at The Pine Genesis as a Dietary Aide for over 30 years. She was well known and a popular face around the facility. Always willing to go the extra mile to ensure her work spoke for itself.
Although she was a busy body, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of how precious life is. She loved to dance and travel. She would spend hours riding down random roads just to see where they would lead. She would never admit to being lost, just continue down the road until she saw something familiar, or you would hear "hmm well we done got down here far enough I think we better turn around." Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going on shopping trips.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her devoted and loving husband, of over 50 years, Bobby Jones of Cordova, Maryland; Sister Lucielle Johnson (Befford Johnson) of Cambridge, MD, Brothers Calvin Simms of Federalsburg, MD, Sherwood Camper (Doris Camper) of Hurlock, MD, John Cottom (Shirley Cottom) of Hurlock, MD, Sister Sherlyn Cannon of Fayetteville, NC.
