Barbara Jean Mincey Thomas' Obituary
Barbara Jean Mincey Thomas, known as “Bobbie Mincey” of East New Market, MD, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was 70 years old.
She was born April 19, 1941 in Panama City, FL, daughter of the late Thomas Mincey, Sr. and Minnie Lee Peaton Mincey. Her husband, Herbert Warren Thomas preceded her in death on June 9, 2010.
She was employed by Dorchester Department of Social Services with Work Oppportunity Case Management II. She worked as a bank teller for the former Farmers Merchant Bank, and was a sales associate at the former Leggett’s in Cambridge, and at Ames. She was a program writer at Merrell Lynch. Barbara grew up in the Church of God in Christ.
She is survived by three daughters, Vivian Thomas, Regena Thomas and her fiancée Dwayne Brittingham, and Lorna Thomas all of Thompsontown, five grandchildren, Jeffrey Jones of NY, Keontra’ Thomas (Alicia) of DE, Kierra Thomas of Cambridge, Jerrad Thomas and Courtney Thomas both of Thompsontown, six great-grandchildren, three sisters, Lena Bullard and Ruby Parks, both of Detroit, MI, and Mildred Mincey of Texas, a brother Hubert Mincey of Texas, four sisters-in-law, Vivian Jolley Frock of East New Market, Parthenia Goslee of Thompsontown, Lillian Magee and Frances Jolley, both of Federalsburg, and a dear friend, Ruth Jones of Hurlock. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Thomas, three brothers, Thomas Mincey, Jr., James Mincey and Harold Williams, and a sister Ora Lee Eddings.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. May 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.at Zion Baptist Church, 600 Cross St., Cambridge, with Pastor Cornell Johnson officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held on Monday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.
