Bette Helmer's Obituary
Bette Helmer of Federalsburg passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Caroline Nursing and Rehab Center in Denton. She was 88 years old.
She was born on April 19, 1934 in Easton, Talbot County, Maryland, the daughter of the late William and Leona Sullivan Bridges.
She graduated from Easton High School with the class of 1953, and in December 1954 Bette married Alexander J. Helmer. Along with raising her family, she was a long time employee at Sisk Fulfillment as a mail processor.
She has 9 grand children and 13 great grand children and one grandson, Michael Harding who passed away.
She loved to crochet, enjoyed going to dances, and she was very well known for her fancy jewelry.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion & VFW.
Her greatest joy was her family and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her six children: Leigh Wroten and husband Sonny of Hurlock, Leslie Harding and her husband Clyde of Brookview, Stephen Helmer and his wife Cammy of Dover, Rodney Helmer and his wife Bambi of Hurlock, Randy Helmer of Hurlock and Danielle Thomas of Federalsburg; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Alexander; two brothers: William Bridges, Jr., and Bobby Bridges; and one sister Eleanor Lee James.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 1pm at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Inurnment will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00.
