Betty Mae Parks' Obituary
Betty Mae (Jackson) Parks passed away peacefully at her home in Federalsburg surrounded by her loving family. Her death came following a long illness. She was 88 years old.
Born in Bridgeville, Delaware on August 29, 1937, Betty was the daughter of Thomas and Minnie Mae (Rittenour) Jackson. Following her formal education, she married James Cecil Parks and they made their home in Federalsburg. It was in Federalsburg that they also raised their family.
During her working life Betty operated a day care. She was involved in a number of civic organizations such as the Seaford American Legion, the Federalsburg VFW, the Seaford Moose Lodge, the Red Hat Club, and was a football booster at Colonel Richardson. For over fifty years she attended her childhood church Union United Methodist Church. More recently Betty attended Christ Church until health reasons prevented her. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and her beloved huskies of which she had several over the years. Above all she cared the most about her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to mourn Betty is her husband James; her sons James Stephen Parks, Chris Parks (April) and Stephen Parks (Ashley) all of Fedralsburg; her grandchildren Michael Parks of Federalsburg, Kevin Parks (Shelbey) of Easton, Christopher Parks (Jenna) of Denton, Adam Parks (Tiffany) of Federalsburg, Madison Parks (Zack) of Federalsburg and Jarred Parks (Ava) also of Federalsburg; her great-grandchildren Trynton Parks of Federalsburg, Taylor Parks of Easton, Rayna Parks of Denton and Aria Hoffman of Federalsburg.
Betty was preceded in death by her siblings Lucille Glenna Richardson, Evellyn June Elzey, Netti L. Windsor, Thomas N. Jackson, Jr., Franklin Tucwiller Jackson and Fred Marshall Jackson.
A funeral service will be held at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 starting at Noon. Her family will receive friends and relatives during a visitation for one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be private and at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial donation be made to the Caroline County Humane Society.
