Betty Van Schaik's Obituary
Betty Van Schaik, of Preston, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Caroline Hospice House in Denton. She was 86.
She was born on April 5, 1930 in Harmony and was a daughter of the late Harry Richards and Amanda Darling Richards. On August 20, 1948, she married Arthur Van Schaik.
Betty graduated from Preston High School. She was employed in the meat department for over 30 years at A & P Market, which later became Super Fresh in Easton. Besides her employment at Super Fresh, she served as a caregiver for a number of people in the community including her father, mother, and neighbor. She could often be found cooking a meal for the members of the community. During her later years, Betty enjoyed swimming, relaxing by the pool, and playing bingo. She attended Talbot Bible in Easton.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Arthur Van Schaik of Preston; two daughters Elaine Boyd her husband Bernie of Harmony and Jeri Webster and her husband Richard of Trappe; three grandchildren Tammy Ewing and her husband Timmy of Easton, Jeremy Boyd and his wife Brandy of Harmony, and Lauren Ayres and her husband Howard of Trappe; and two great grandchildren Colby and Callie Boyd of Harmony.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother Billy Richards.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston with Pastor Bob Davis officiating.
