Betty Carroll Bennett's Obituary
Betty Carroll Bennett, 81, died at her home in Federalsburg on Thursday, July 13, 2006.
She was born on September 17, 1924 near Federalsburg the daughter of the late James H. Carroll and Venus Murphy Carroll.
She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School’s Class of 1941. She first worked full time for E. I. Dupont Co. in Wilmington, DE for several years during World War II. She then worked for 11 years as an administrative assistant for the Becker Insurance Agency in Federalsburg and later held the same position for Dr. John Sloan for over 8 years.
She was a member of Union United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday School Teacher and Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. She was the last surviving Charter Member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company and she was a life member of the Ladies Auxillary of Federalsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5246 in Federalsburg, where she had served as past President, Secretary and Treasurer.
She was an excellent dancer and loved to play golf with her husband all over the area as a member of Caroline Country Club.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William P. Bennett, whom she married in Wilmington, DE on March 3, 1944 and two sons, William Richard Bennett and his wife Deb of Richmond, KY, and Steven Carroll Bennett and his wife Linda of Fredericksburg, VA and four grandchildren, Elisabeth, Teddy, Deanna and Cassandra.
Funeral services for her will be held on Monday, July 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Framptom Funeral Home, P. A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Dale Evans officiating. Interment will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The family has requested that donations be made in her memory to Caroline Hospice Foundation P.O. B. 362 Denton, MD 21629.
