Betty Spry Johnson's Obituary
Betty Maxine Spry Johnson passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in Federalsburg. She was 79.
She was born on October 19, 1931 in Hurlock, Maryland, the daughter of the late James Spry and Margaret Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfield Johnson.
She was raised and educated in Dorchester County. She was a homemaker. She raised twelve children and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by eight daughters, Cassandra Hill of Philadelphia, PA, Margaret Lake, Mary Spry, Dianne Spry, Winfred Johnson, Pauline Johnson and Grace Johnson all of Federalsburg, and Cathy Spry of Annapolis, three sons, Rodney Johnson of Cambridge, Reuben Johnson of Federalsburg and James Johnson of Hurlock, 31 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Walker of Hurlock and a brother, Ralph Hicks of Federalsburg. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Spry Pitts and three brothers, Freddie Spry, Wilson Spry and Tommy Spry.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 1:00p.m.at Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bethlehem with the Bishop Chester Friend officiating. Burial will follow in Federal Hill Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may visit the Church from 11-1 on Saturday.
