Beverly Jean Smith's Obituary
Beverly Jean Cummings Smith of Clear Spring, Maryland passed away in Federalsburg, on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. She was 58.
She was born January 21, 1954, in Easton, MD the daughter of Charles L. Cummings and Dorothy G. Stone Cummings.
Beverly graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1972. She had previously worked at Black & Decker in Easton and was currently working as a driver for FedEx as an owner and operator. She was a member of Preston Volunteer Fire Company and was a member of a bowling league in Easton. She was every involved in every aspect of her childrens’ lives and while they were in school she was a team Mom for Little League and a Colonel Band Booster Parent. “Hot Dog” and “Mom-Mom Bev” as she was fondly known to many enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, and playing the piano. Her travels included driving through all the lower 48 states and through Canada and going to the beach. She helped raise her stepchildren and was very devoted to her family and everyone she knew. Her nine grandchildren were her life and her motto to them was, “When you are at mom-mom’s you can do anything you want!”.
She is survived by her husband of eleven years, Kenneth P. Smith whom she married on September 21, 2000, her father, Charles L. Cummings and his wife, Sylvia of Bethlehem, her mother, Dorothy G. Stone Cummings of Easton, three children, Sherry Hopkins and her companion, Mike Collins, of Easton, Carey Larrimore and her husband, Richard of Preston, Wade Hopkins and his wife, Sarah of Federalsburg, three step-daughters, Geneva Smith of Martinsburg, WV, Savannah Smith and Kayla Smith, both of Clear Spring, MD, nine grandchildren, Tyler Spurry, Racheal Larrimore, Phillip Spurry, Victoria Larrimore, Jennifer Larrimore, Anna Hopkins, Katelyn Hopkins, Meela Grisby, and Vincent Destefano, three brothers, Mark Cummings of Tilghman, Dorian Cummings of Easton, Brent Cummings of Preston, a sister, Carol Andrews of Trappe. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at noon at Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, with Rev. Glenn Staehli officiating. Friends may call at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Serving as pallbearers will be John Glessner, Aaron Trice, Ricky Cohee, Eric Lord, Aaron Cummings, and Louis Flammer.
