Blanche C. Towers Smith's Obituary
Blanche C. Towers Smith of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at her home. She was 91 years old.
She was born Dec. 15, 1917 near Smithville, MD, the daughter of the late John Elwood Towers and Millie Willoughby Towers. Her husband Lee A. Smith preceded her in death in 1958.
She had worked at the former Excelsior Pearl Works and then worked at the Sunshine Laundry for several years. She had also worked for the former Caroline Poultry in Federalsburg, and retired from the former Con Agra in Hurlock when she was 65.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two children, Sandra L. Phillips and her husband John, and George A. Smith and his wife Patsy, all of Federalsburg; 6 grandchildren Johnny Phillips, Kenny Smith, Danny Phillips, Scott Phillips, Karen Kemp and Kelly Adams, all of Federalsburg; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 10 siblings, Elwood, Milton, George, Lawrence and Roland Towers, Helen Henry, Nettie Whitby, Ruby Donovan and Sarah and Martha Towers.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 to 2:00 on Tuesday.
