Carl Wayne Wilmer's Obituary
Carl Wayne Wilmer, 62, better known as “Wayne” was born January 24, 1955. He departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017 at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE.
He was the son of the late Norris and Beulah Wilmer. He graduated from Colonel Richardson High School with the class of 1973.
He was employed by Nagel Farm for many years, Preston Ford, and Kilmon Lawn Service before his health failed. He was a member of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church. His favorite hobbies included fixing cars and lawn mowers, cutting grass, and riding his moped with his friends. He loved to cook and take care of his grandchildren, whom they called “Pop Pop”. He had a good heart and was always willing to help someone in need. He met and married his wife, Brenda, on March 5, 1988.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, William Herring Jr. and James Herring, and a step-son, Dwayne Batson.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Brenda Wilmer, one step-daughter, Tracy Batson Major (Kirk) of Cambridge, MD, one step-son, Frankco Batson (Daisy) of Laurel, DE, eight step-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, two sisters, Linda Weeks (Daun) of Wilmington, DE, and Barbara Gregory (Rev. Dr. Stairlon) of North Carolina, a special niece, Rionne Wilmer, of Baltimore, MD, three brother-in-laws, William Cephas (Essie), Douglas Cephas (Elaine), Jerome Cephas (Rose), three sister-in-laws, Gloria Green (David), Margaret Hubbard (S. Lorenzo), Cynthia Chester (Nathaniel), and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special faithful friend, William Murphy.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Preston, MD, with Reverend Darlene Dickson officiating. Interment will be held at John’s Cemetery on Gallagher Rd. in Preston, MD. A visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm prior to the start of the service.
