EASTON - Carol Baker Tolson Bergmann (Punky), a longtime resident of Hyattsville, MD, and later of Davidsonville, Edgewater, and Easton, MD, passed away on December 7, 2024, at the age of 90.
Born on September 27, 1934, Carol was the daughter of the late Rev. Melvin A. and Gertrude Baker. She was the cherished wife of Ken Bergmann, loving mother to Lori Tolson Riley and Christian A. Tolson (Carolyn Tolson), and proud grandmother to Kate, Brooke, and Elyse Tolson. Carol was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph F. Tolson, her son, Frank M. Tolson, her son-in-law, Mike Riley, her sister, Betty Bergmann Centerfiet, and her brother, James Baker.
Carol devoted her professional life to the state of Maryland, retiring from the Prince George's County Public Defender's Office. She was known for her artistic talent, sharp sense of humor, and gifted musical abilities. Carol took great joy in decorating, gardening, playing bridge, and most of all, spending time with her family-especially on summer beach vacations.
Her passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew her. Carol's life was defined by her deep love for her family, her generosity of spirit, and her positive impact on everyone around her. As we mourn her death, we also celebrate the remarkable legacy of love, kindness, and joy that she leaves behind.
