Carol Arlene Robinson's Obituary
Carol Robinson passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, in her home on February 15, 2025, at the age of 97.
She was born on December 18, 1927 in Deer River, MN, the daughter of Waitman & Florence Dolby. She is survived by her son, L. Gene Robinson (Teresa), daughters Brenda Dean and Cindy Harris (Tim Harris), 10 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Elmer Robinson, son, E. Wayne Robinson and Grandson, Scott Robinson.
Carol graduated from Federalsburg High School in 1944 and married the love of her life, Elmer Robinson, shortly after graduation. They were married for 54 years when he passed away in 1998. They spent their lifetime working together farming, building the legacy of Possum Hill Farms.
Carol pursued her passion for cooking and baking when she and her lifetime friend, Dorothy Breeding, created Carol & Dot's Catering Service. Together they provided food and beautiful wedding cakes for hundreds of couples through the years. She was also known for the incredible meals she made for her family, her church and the Federalsburg Senior Center.
Her other great passion was gardening. At 96 years old, she still had beautiful flower pots filled with hundreds of Bubblegum Petunias and was ready to place her order for this year's plantings.
Her love for children led her to help in her daughter's daycare, Idlewild Children's Center, where she was known as "Mom Mom Carol" by the children there.
In addition to her passion for cooking, she was very artistically talented and enjoyed oil painting, china painting, sewing and was an avid writer. She was also musically talented and played the guitar, Dulcimer, steel guitar, piano and Hammond organ, most of which were self-taught. Carol loved playing and singing at the Bloomery United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member and spent many years as a Sunday School teacher and choir director. In addition, she was also a member of the Federalsburg Senior Center, The Red Hatters Club and The Bloomery WSCS, helping to prepare many oyster suppers and ice cream socials to raise money for the Smithville Community Building.
Her love of family and creating family traditions to be handed down to future generations was important to her. For close to 50 years she helped her grandchildren, great grand children and great-great grandchildren decorate gingerbread houses. She turned their creations into a beautiful gingerbread village for all to enjoy. This tradition created many memories which will be cherished in future years.
The family would like to express their heart-felt gratitude to the wonderful caregivers who gave her love, dignity, compassion and the ability to stay in her own home until the very end. Dorothy Ewing, Cindy Redmond, Debbie Guessford, Valerie Brinsfield and Evelyn Hubbard became part of the family and are deeply loved by all.
Visitation will be held at Framptom Funeral home in Federalsburg, Md. on February 22, 2025 at 1:30 with a service immediately following at 2:30. Interment will be held at Bloomery United Methodist Cemetery and a reception celebrating Carol's life will be held at the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's memory to the Bloomery Methodist Church, 6969 Reliance Road, Federalsburg, Md. 21632.
