Cecelia Marie Hoffman's Obituary
Cecelia Marie Hoffman, life time resident of Caroline County, died on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 at Homestead Manor Assisted Living in Denton where she has resided for the past six years. She was 91 years old.
She was born on Christmas Eve, 1916 in Smithville, MD, the daughter of the late James Alfred Fishell and Mary Elizabeth Watson Fishell. Her husband, James William Hoffman, preceded her in death, and had owned a service station/general store at the crossroads of routes 404 and 16.
She lived a life of Christian familial care and ever joyful praising of her Savior. She was a homemaker. Cecelia was a former member of the Concord United Methodist Church near Federalsburg where she was a singer in her church choir for many years. She was always singing and reflected a kind, pleasant demeanor even after dementia altered her as she reached her eighties.
She is survived by a son Jerome David and his wife, Nancy, of Hampstead, MD, five grandchildren, Keith Watson Hoffman, Pamela Judd Volkonsky, Kimberly Judd Ellis, Marilyn Judd Wistort, and Kelley Hoffman Lund; five great-grandchildren, one sister, Agnes Patton of Milford, DE, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, James William Hoffman, she was preceded in death by two sons, James Watson Hoffman and Joseph Emory Hoffman, a daughter, Janet Hoffman Judd, and five siblings, Elda Jean, Floyd Fishell, Adrian Fishell, David Fishell, and Anna Tull Turner.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, MD with Rev. Kathryn Rohrbach officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery near Federalsburg.
