Charles Griffin's Obituary
Charles Andrew Griffin of Hurlock, MD died at UMMC in Baltimore on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the age of 52.
He was born in Hurlock, MD on January 17, 1964, the son of Charles E. griffin and the late Geraldine Forman Griffin.
Drew took the oath to serve and protect his country in the United States Marine Corp. from 1983-1990. He was a sergeant and very well respected, non-commissioned officer. There he garnered numerous merit and service awards while traveling the world.
His passion for traveling spilled over into his profession of being an over-the-road truck driver. He did this for the past 8 years, driving locally for Fox Trucking in Easton, and Harbor House in Seaford, DE.
He loved going to all the places that trucking has taken him. However, there was as a couple of places that he had no desire to revisit. His kindness and generosity led him to meet and make a lot of friends on the road. He never hesitated to open up his home or help those in need.
When he was home, he would whip up a meal and invite you over. He never had any children, but his compassion for all children made him “Uncle Andrew”. He spoiled them rotten.
Everyone knew his love of football. His team was the “Baltimore Ravens” and he displayed that purple and black in everything he did. Don’t bother him when a football game was on. Catch him during commercials.
He may not have been an avid church goer, but his relationship with the Lord was phenomenal.
He is survived by his father, Charles E. Griffin of Hurlock, two brothers, Rodney Griffin of Hurlock and Ty Stanley of Harmony; three sisters,
Yuolanda Vanessa Washington of Hurlock, Stephanie Parker of Glenarden, MD, and Sandra Jones of Hurlock; two grandmothers, Helena Griffin of Federalsburg and Gertrude Green of Harmony; four nieces, Tanisha Fletcher (Billy), Shantel Parker, Yuolanda Griffin, and Mia Jones; two nephews, dian Jones and Rodney A. Griffin; two sisters/cousins, Victoria Griffin and Cheryl Hart (Donald), great nieces, nephews and a huge host of family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg. Interment will follow at Federal Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
