Charles R Upham's Obituary
Charles Robert Upham of Mardela Springs, Maryland passed peacefully away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Delmar Manor in Delmar, Maryland after a lengthy illness courageously fought. He was 86.
He was born on January 22, 1933 in Goldsboro, Maryland, the son of the late Charles Robert Upham and Anna Hastings Upham.
He was raised by his grandmother, Anna Adams Hastings in Portsville, Delaware. He later graduated from Laurel High School. After his education, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1953-1961.
He was married to Irene Kelly Upham and they made their home in Galestown, Maryland. He worked for the Chris Craft Corporation in Salisbury as Yacht Inspector and later Supervisor. After the plant’s closing he and his wife opened an antiques business which they successfully operated for over fifty years.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Kelly Upham of Mardela Springs, and one daughter, Charlene Upham and her husband Steve Blumenauer of Mardela Springs.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Upham Pedersen, Zora Eye and James Carlisle.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 1:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Pastor Marie Coulbourne officiating. Burial will follow in Galestown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00.
