Charles H. Kenton's Obituary
Charles H. Kenton of Preston died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at Caroline Nursing and Rehab of Denton. He was 89.
He was born May 1, 1920 in Wilmington, DE, the oldest child of the late Charlie and Matilda Lubba Kenton. Mr. Kenton was preceded in death by his wife, the former Betty Lee Engerman, whom he married June 29, 1946.
Mr. Kenton was a lifelong farmer as well as manager of Southern States in Preston until his retirement in 1984. After retirement he worked part time at Nagel’s Hardware in Preston. He was an active member of Preston Lions Club for many years where he held several offices. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston.
He is survived by his two sons, C. Dale Kenton and his wife Marsha, Alan Kenton and his wife Coleen, all of Preston, three grandchildren, Maureen Kenton of Texas, Jennifer Kenton of Preston and Ryan Kenton of Preston. He is also survived by a brother Franklin Kenton of Seaford, DE, three sisters Irene Chambers and Betty Lou Lare, both of Preston, and Wanda North of Henderson, MD, many nieces and nephews, and a special friend Eloise White of Preston. He was preceded in death by a brother David Kenton and two sisters Alice Perry and Audrey Willoughby.
