Charles Harold Meredith's Obituary
Charles Harold Meredith of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton, MD. He was 78 years old.
He was born July 20, 1930 in Federalsburg, the son of the late Norman and Helen Smith Meredith, and the foster son of the late Mark and Mrytle Hignutt.
He was a graduate of Caroline High School class of 1947. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, retiring in 1967. He then was employed as Director of Material Management at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. After taking an early retirement he went to Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE as Director of Material Management.
He attended Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, and a member of the Society for Hospital Materials Management, Fleet Reserve Assoc. Branch 24 in Annapolis, MD, American Legion Post 29 in Denton, and a Life Member of the V.F.W. Post 5246 in Federalsburg.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Florence Turner Meredith, whom he married on April 15, 1950, two sons, Charles Allen Meredith of Green Point and Mark William Meredith of Denton, MD, three daughters, Carolyn A. Bobitka of Federalsburg, Barbara A. Rampmeyer of Ridgely, and Sally M. Scott of Federalsburg, 15 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, three brothers, Bruce Meredith of Federalsburg, Jerry Meredith of Denton and Eddie Meredith of Seaford, DE and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Irene Tull, Bernice Andrews and Donald Meredith.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Framptom Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Interment will military honors will follow in Concord Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. A VFW Memorial Service will be held at 8 p.m. on Wedesday evening.
