Christopher James Bona, Sr.'s Obituary
Christopher James Bona, Sr, of Hurlock, passed away on Tuesday July 25, 2016 at his home. He was 85.
He was born on March 19, 1931 in Baltimore, MD, number 7 of ten children.
Christopher was shipped out as a Merchant Marine for 17 years. On May 30, 1960, he married Marie Bona. After returning from the Merchant Marines, he was employed as a heavy equipment mover (Rigger). He was a father to 6 children from 1963 to 1982 (4 girls and 2 boys). Mr. Bona worked long hours to build a home on a weekly paycheck so there would be no mortgage. He loved flea markets and bought and sold to turn trash into treasure to make sure he met the needs of his family. He was never proud to do anything. In 1998, he moved to Hurlock, MD and was a faithful caregiver to his father-in-law until his death. Christopher loved cooking special meals for his family and friends, and took much joy when they praised and told him how good it was, His favorite pastime was cooking Italian food. Now Jesus is embracing him in heaven where there is no more pain.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria Bona; six children Laureen Rodriguez and her husband Daniel, Michelle Andrade, Kristen McIntyre and her husband James, Marc Bona and his wife Morgen, Melissa Bona, and Christopher Bona, Jr. ; seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Reverend David Talley officiating.
