Christopher Colburn's Obituary
MSgt. Christopher Alan Colburn (USAF Ret.) passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at home with his family in Felton, Delaware following an extended illness. He was 58 years old.
Chris was born into an Air Force family on May 4, 1966 in Dover, Delaware. He was the son of the late Lt. Col. Gary and Barbara (Nielson) Eden. Growing up he and his family lived in several locations around the country, and he graduated from Foothill High School in Sacramento, California.
Following high school Chris enlisted in the United States Air Force and for the next twenty-three years he served his nation both at home and overseas including two deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom / Operation Iraqi Freedom. His specialty was as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Craftsman. It was early on in the Air Force that Chris met his future wife the former Laura Bennett. They met while attending the same training school and then were stationed at the same base in England. They married on August 11, 1990 and had one daughter named Barbara. Chris retired in 2012.
Chris enjoyed woodworking and cooking.
Chris is survived by his wife Laura; his daughter Barbara Colburn and her companion David O'Connell; and his brother Greg Colburn and family of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his oldest brother Kirk Colburn.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 starting at 1pm in Hillcrest Cemetery, Federalsburg, Maryland. Pastor Marie Coulbourne will officiate and military honors will be rendered at that time.
