Claire Lathy Hughson
Easton: Claire Lathy Hughson of Easton, Md. formerly of St. Michaels, died at Genesis Health Care “The Pines†Easton, MD. on Monday April 18, 2011. She was 84.
Claire was born in Fresno, CA. on December 28, 1926. She was the oldest daughter of Henry Kent and Doris Reyburn Lathy. After graduating from High School Claire attended the College of Pacific for three years, and graduated from Douglas College with a B.S. in 1948. She taught mathematics at Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA. from 1962 to 1969 and at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois from 1971 until she retired in 1989.
After Claire and her beloved husband William moved to St. Michaels, MD. she avidly pursued her interest in gardening and needle work. She was an active member of the Riverview Gardening Club and Thread Haven, Claire often wowed her family and friends with her encyclopedic knowledge of plants and wildlife!
Mrs. Hughson was a wonderful mother to; Walter Hughson of Glenview, Illinois, Rebecca Hughson Leise of Haddonfield, N.J; one brother, Kent Lathy of Fresno, CA. one sister Shirley Hines of Eugene, OR. two Granddaughters; Anna Claire Leise and Virginia Alison Leise. Claire was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years William J.C. Hughson, who died in July 2010 and a son Kent Lathy Hughson.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, St. Michaels, on Saturday April 30, 2011 at 10:30 AM.
Burial will be private at a later date.
