Claire E. Meredith's Obituary
Claire Elizabeth Hallowell Meredith of Federalsburg passed away at her home on Sunday, November 5, 2006. She was 81 years old.
She was born on December 29, 1924 in Norristown, PA, the daughter of the late Harry Thomas Hallowell and Margaret Bowers Hallowell. Her husband of 56 years, Robert James Meredith, preceded her in death on June 17, 1999.
She graduated from Federalsburg High School, class of 1943. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, a member and past president of the Rebeka Circle of the Odd Fellows, a member of the Holstein Dairy Association, and had attended First Assembly of God in Hawthorne, FL.
She is survived by six children, Joanne Greenage of Preston, Carolyn Mercer and her husband, James, of Hawthorne, FL, Beverly Adams and her husband, Paul, of Denton, Barbara Coleman and her husband, Jim, of Federalsburg, Debbie Alvey and her husband, Jerry, of Preston, and R.J. Meredith and his wife, Kenda, of Federalsburg, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Peggy Hubbard of Seaford, DE and Vonnie Wright of Federalsburg, and many nieces and nephews. A grandson “Little” Eddie Greenwood and a sister, MaeBelle Poole preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at
the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Denzil Cheek, Brother Lowell Greene, and Rev. Dale Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Mercer, Jim Coleman, Paul Adams, Jerry Alvey, Eddie Greenwood and Jimmy Harding, with the honorary pallbearer being Edwin Meredith.
