Clara Emma Marine's Obituary
Our mother Clara Emma Kenney Marine finished her earthly journey on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, Maryland. She was 95.
She was born on August 4, 1927 in Chester, PA the daughter of the late Robert Earle Kenney and Mary Edith Hignutt Kenney Meredith.
After her education, she was married to Eldred Meritt in 1941, then to Edwin "Fats" Marine in 1954 and they made their home in Preston.
She started working at Riley's Coffee Shop, Keene's Market and the Locker Plant all in Easton before her retirement from Acme Markets in 1990 after 37 years of faithful service.
In her free time, Clara loved gardening, sewing especially for her family members, and travel to Kentucky, Georgia, Florida and Texas. She was a life-long member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Linda J. Thomas and her husband Bill and Laura L. Baker all of Preston; step-daughter-in-law: Margaret "Peggy" Marine of Preston and a brother; Eddie Meredith. She was also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edwin "Fats" Marine; two sons: Eldred William Meritt, Jr., and L. Robert Meritt (Joyce) a daughter: Lisa Marine; three stepsons: Thomas E. Marine, Donald R. Marine and William Marine; two step daughters: Barbara M. Dietrich and Dottie Marine Todd; a brother: Jerry Meredith; infant grandson: L. Robert Meritt, Jr., granddaughter: Angela T. Cronshaw; son-in-law Kenny Baker and five siblings: Russell E. Kenney, Ida Powell, Mary Jane Schultz, Faye Burton and Barbara Howell.
Funeral services will be private.
