Clarence Porter's Obituary
Clarence Porter of Denton and formerly of Hickman, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. He was 99 years old.
He was born on May 28, 1910 near Andersontown, Maryland, son of the late Joshua Porter and Lizzie Trice Porter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mabel Mae Torbert Porter who passed away on April 3, 1993.
He had worked as a mixer operator for O.A. Newton and Son Feed Mill in Bridgeville, DE. He enjoyed fox hunting and going to the auction barn at American Corner.
He is survived by a son, Clarence Edward Porter and his wife, Pauline of Federalsburg, a daughter, Joyce Armes and her husband, Chester of Federalsburg, 7 grandchildren, Wayne Porter (Karla), Joann Smith (Steve), Darlene Bailey (Kevin), Jeff Porter (Linda), Shelley Sherman (Teddy), Chester “Jr.” Armes (Rachel), Stacie Armes, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild are due to arrive in February and March and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Scott and Etta Dukes.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with Ed Collier officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 pm and from 1-2 pm on Saturday. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Richard Porter, Joshua Porter, Jason Smith, Michael Porter, Joe Bailey, and Justin Sherman.
