Clifford Smith's Obituary
Clifford Cornell Smith was born on September 9, 1958 in Dorchester County, Maryland to the late Florence Mae Smith and Leon Wongus, Jr. He was the fifth child of six children. Clifford. affectionately know as “Gator”, departed this life on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital at the age of 57.
He received his education at Hurlock Elementary and North Dorchester High School. Clifford was employed by Allen Foods for several years and he also enjoyed farm work.
Clifford was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Seaford, DE. He was a member of the United Methodist Men where he was often seen on Saturday Fish Fry’s. Clifford also sang with the United Methodist Men.
He was preceded in death by his soulmate, Pauline Wright.
Clifford leaves to cherish his memories five sisters, Faye Smith, Ellen Brown, Helen Smith, Rachel Bailey and Elouise Grill, three brothers, Kevin Smith (wife Monica), Jesse Smith (wife Ann), and Gregory Gill, Aunt Annie Hubbard Uncle Douglas Dobson (wife Lillian) and Aunt Bessie Jones (husband Wendell), Aunt Alberta Waples, Aunt Hester Waples, and Uncle Raymond Taylor, his best friends, Robert Smith and Thomas Newcomb, a special cousin, Rosanna Waples and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
