Connie Sue Wood Roop's Obituary
Connie Sue Wood Roop of Bridgeville, DE died on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE, after a long struggle with heart disease, diabetes and breast cancer. She was 53 years old.
Born Dec. 19, 1954 in Easton, MD, she was the loving daughter of the late Thomas Manderville Wood and Mary Jane Passwaters Wood. Her husband Rodney Wayne Roop preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1978.
She was a graduate of North Caroline High School Class of 1973. She had an incredible ability to write poems which demonstrated deep compassion and concern for others. She was an avid reader, loved to cook and did much research in her family connection to the Cherokee Indians. She had worked for Dr. Kenneth Smith in Bridgeville and had last worked at the Bank Processing Center in Bridgeville. She was a long time member of Faith Fellowship Church in Preston where she served in the Sunday School.
She is survived by a son, Kevin Thomas Roop of Bridgeville, a grandson, Hunter Chad Roop, a beloved companion, Dave Wooters of Bridgeville, 3 sisters, Beverly J. Obenshain of Laurel, DE, Bonnie L. French and Tina Ann McGee, both of Greenwood, DE, one aunt, Betty Elliott of Greenwood, one uncle Donald Tull of Bridgeville, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by 2 siblings, Ronald Thomas Wood and Robin Lynn Wood.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, MD with Rev. Howard Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Bloomery Cemetery near Smithville, MD. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00.
