Dan Henry Lane's Obituary
Dan Henry Lane, Sr. passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his home in Preston. He was 72.
He was born on November 25, 1944 and was a son of the late Roland Bryan Lane and Louise Meredith Lane. On April 15, 1989, he married the former Mary Faye Winstead.
Dan graduated from Colonel Richardson High School. After graduating, he attended business school in Baltimore for a year. Upon his return from business school, he was employed with Preston Trucking as a dispatcher. He was later employed with H and M Bay and most recently Win Transport since 2005. Dan enjoyed farming which he did up until 1989, rabbit hunting, and gardening. He was member of the Junior Order Mechanic Lodge in Preston.
He is survived by his wife Mary Faye Lane of Preston, two sons Bryan Lane and his wife Annette of Denton and Dan Lane, Jr. and his wife Cayla of Federalsburg, four grandchildren Evelyn Lane of Federalsburg, Brandon Lane of Hebron, JB Speas of Arlington, VA, and Justin Lane of Hebron, two brothers Jack Lane of Preston and James Lane of Wilson, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister Shirley Fowlkes and a brother Rollie Lane.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 am at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston with Pastor Linda Pevey officiating. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday evening at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
