Daniel Clayton Daffin's Obituary
St. Michaels - Daniel C. "Dink" Daffin died at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore on Tuesday July 1. 2025. He was 68
Born on November 5, 1956 in Easton, MD he was the son of the late Marion B "Dink" and Ruth Dyott Daffin. He was a lifelong resident of St. Michaels, attend grammar school and High School in St. Michaels where he graduated in 1974. Dink was always interested in the automotive industry, during his Junior and Senior years in High School he was among the first class to go through the Vo-Tech Center in Easton in the automotive program. This sparked and interest that would last his whole life.
He worked at Piney Narrows Marina and Reese's Garage in St. Michaels for about 5 years. He then stared Daffin Marine in his back yard doing work out of his signature Van (Old Bread Truck) he would do on site boat repairs. In 1992 along with his friend Ed "Bumper" Hause they moved to McDaniel and Daffin Marine was established. He was a Volvo Penta Dealer, Mercuriser, Marine Power, velvet drive, and many other brands of marine power equipment.
He obtained his U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License with the Towing endorsement, in addition he was a life member of St. Michaels Fire Dept. Station 40 where he held many office's, he was a member of Duck's unlimited and a regular at Carpenter Street Saloon.
Dink inherited his nickname, from his father at an early age and it has stuck with him his whole life, everybody knows "Dink".
He is survived by his wife Debbie if St, Michaels and his sister; Paula.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday July 20, 2025 at the Tilghman Fire Dept. Station 70 at 2:00PM please bring your Dink stories and Memories to share. Parking will be at the Tilghman Elementary School a shuttle service will be provided by Carpenter Street Saloon to take you to the Fire house.
