David Burns, Sr.'s Obituary
David Mitchell Burns Sr., passed away on Tuesday. February 25, 2020 at his home in Federalsburg. He was 72.
He was born on September 28, 1947 in Easton, Maryland, the son of the late Ernest Little Burns and Annie Elizabeth Shanks Burns.
David grew up in Grasonville. He started a career as a waterman with his father that spanned almost his entire lifetime. Later he worked for Allen Foods in Hurlock as a welder. When he was not working, David enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Julia Mansfield Burns of Federalsburg, a daughter, Julia Hall and her husband Brett of Chestertown, a son, David Burns Jr. of Federalsburg, five grandchildren: Katherine Alexander and her husband Michael of Kennedyville, MD, Lewis Hall and his companion Kelley of Federalsburg, Preston Hall and Bradley Hall both of Chestertown, and Edward Burns of Cambridge; two great grandchildren: Annabelle Hall of Bridgeville, DE, and Hunter Hall of Federalsburg, and two sisters: Betty Quimby of Centreville, MD and Gloria Steward of Stafford, VA. In addition, David is survived by his in-laws, the Mansfield Family who he loved as his own brothers and sisters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest “Alton” Burns and Edward Burns, and a sister Mary Brooks.
