David Harrison Kemp, Sr.'s Obituary
St. Michaels - David Harrison Kemp Sr, born on December 30, 1943 in Easton, Md, passed away peacefully at his home on January 15, 2025 in St. Michaels, where he resided. He was 81.
He attended St. Michaels High School and afterwards, worked as a brick-layer, and then a life-long commercial waterman of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Bonnie. He attended basic military training at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) in North Carolina and earned the rank of corporal in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam and operated amphibious vehicles while patrolling the Cam Rahn Bay. He returned home to his family in 1968. His interests were spending time with his wife and family, working on the water, Friday nights at the VFW, and watching westerns.
David was predeceased by his parents, John (Jack) and Evelyn Baynard Kemp, his sister Jaqueline Kemp and his oldest son, David Kemp Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Bonnie Kemp, his sons, Gregory Kemp (Morgan) and Michael Kemp Sr (Tracy). He had 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Christ Episcopal Church in St Michaels on Saturday January 25, 2025 at 2 pm. Family and friends may call 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Talbot County Hospice in his memory.
