Don William Garner's Obituary
Don William Garner of Tilghman passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Bayleigh Chase in Easton at the age of 84.
He was born on June 13, 1933 in Hartsville, SC, the son of the late George Green Garner and Inez Hogge Garner.
Don attended Royal Oak Elementary School and graduated from St. Michaels High School with the class of 1952. For a few years following graduation, he worked on the family farm. In 1954, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1956. During his years in the army he went to school in Fort Jackson, Fort Belvoir, traveled to France, and played touch football in which he won several championships.
After the service he began his career at C & P Telephone Company in which he held several positions over the decades and retired in 1988 after 32 years of faithful service. Don was a member of the Elks Lodge in Easton and the Antique Automobile Club of America. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and boating.
Don is survived by his wife of 30 years, Evelyne H. Garner, whom he married March 29, 1987, four children, Brent Garner (Lynn) of Newcomb, Mac Stinchcomb (Julie) of Tilghman, Ronda Stinchcomb (Chuck) of Easton, Holly Moscone (Michael) of New Jersey, eleven grandchildren, April Loughry (Bobby), Rebecca Garner, Jason Wright (Brenda), Jessica Basel (Tony), Shelby Stinchcomb, Ronnie Scharch (Lauren), Kendal Scharch, Charlie Moscone, Danny Moscone, Nichole (T.) Hopkins, Raelyn Hopkins, six great-grandchildren, Garner Mae Loughry, James Grady Loughry, Nicole Wright, Megan Wright, Luke Basel, Samantha Basel, and a sister, Marilyn Jones (Tom P.) of Wittman.
In addition to his mother and father Don was predeceased by a son Don Wm. Garner, Jr. and a sister Charlotte G. Mills.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 502 Dutchmans Lane, in Easton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Garner Great-Grandchildren College Fund c/o Shore United Bank, Parker Spurry (St. Michaels Branch) P.O.
