Donald Lee Powell's Obituary
Donald Lee Powell was born in Hebron, MD in Wicomico County on May 15, 1932 the son of the late Adam Alexander Powell and Lula Blanche Mitchell Powell.
He is a graduate of Hurlock High School's Class of 1949. He served in the United States Navy from January of 1952 to December 16, 1955.
He then worked for E.I. Dupont in Seaford, DE until July of 1990 after 40 years of service. While there he worked as a textile operator and pipe fitter. He then went to work as a painter with his son Robert at P & G Construction Co. until 2002. He was a member of Hurlock American Legion Post 243, a lifetime member of Hurlock Volunteer Fire Company and a lifetime member of Federalsburg VFW Post 5246.
He was an avid gardener, enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and hunting. His family was his pride and joy.
He married the former Margaret A. Lane on October 18, 1952 with whom they had two sons, Robert Powell and his wife Carolyn of Hurlock, Dale Powell and his wife Katharine of Mclean, VA, a daughter, Debra Townsend and her husband Gary of York, PA, 4 grandchildren, Christopher Powell and his wife Heather of Hurlock, Julie Everhart and her husband Brian of Belair, Stuart Powell and Claire Powell of Mclean, VA, four great-grandchildren, Morgan Powell and Hayden Powell of Hurlock, MD, Lauren Everhart and Brooklyn Everhart of Belair, two sisters, Shirley Breuil of Eldorado and Blanche Powell of Hurlock. He was preceded in death by his brother Russell Powell and a nephew Mark Powell.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Framptom Funeral Home, Federalsburg, MD at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery, Preston, MD.
