Donald Ray VanVorst, Sr. "Poppy"
Donald VanVorst, Sr., 84, of Greenwood, DE, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on May 2, 2022. His bright smile, kind soul, and loving heart touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Born on October 28, 1937, Donald was one of ten children to the late Cornelius and Cora VanVorst. After school, he served in the Navy and then later retired from DuPont as a Mechanic.
He loved spending time with his family, working on classic cars, fishing, and gardening. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always looked forward to sharing a good meal with his family. He also loved to serve and help others.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia VanVorst, six brothers and one sister. He is survived by his two children: Rebecca Workman (Charlie) and Donald VanVorst, Jr. (Rhonda); five grandchildren: Dana Blaney (Adam), Dawn Lineweaver (Jared), Trent VanVorst, Taylor Vanderwende (Jesse), Trevor VanVorst; seven great-grandchildren: Riley, Griffin & Hunter Lineweaver, Asher & Avery Blaney, Bennett & Brooks Vanderwende; one sister Norma Warner and one brother James VanVorst; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Services will be held at Framptom Funeral Home - Fleischauer Chapel in Greenwood on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 12:00. Burial will follow at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood.
