Doris M. Griffin's Obituary
On September 26,2024, heaven gained the sweetest angel at the age of 85. Doris Ellen Griffin, or as she signed most of her life , Doris M. Griffin, left us to go home to be in peace with the lord. She was surrounded by those she loved the most. To know her, was to know what a big heart she had and how spunky she was. Her early days were spent on the family farm and working at T.S. Smith packing house. Then she met the man that would be her husband for 65 years and she devoted her time to raising their two boys. Doris enjoyed many things. Her time spent in Florida, Red Hat Society, exercise class at Cheer, the Cheer center in Greenwood, Church at Crossroads, crocheting, Bingo, even if she didn't win, and her short but enjoyable stay at Country Rest Home in Greenwood. If you were lucky, you had some of her famous yeast rolls. A recipe the family will keep on and do our best to make her proud.
She is predeceased by her parents, Mike and Elsie Malfitano and 3 sisters, Loretta Pritchett, Marie Carroll, and Frances Arney.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband of 65 years, John. Her brother Joe Malftiano, along with several nieces and nephews. Her son Doug and daughter in law Becky of Greenwood . Her son Brooks and daughter in law Jennifer of Bridgeville. Her granddaughter Danielle Cook and her husband Tony of Georgetown and her grandson Brett Griffin and his Girlfriend Liz of Lewes. Her step grandchildren Sammy Mohr and his wife Lynsey of Lewes and Paige Mohr and her fiancé Kevin of Laurel. She also had two step great grandchildren, Kingsley and Sloane Mohr that she got so much joy out of watching them just grow and be kids.
Also to cherish her memories is a special niece Pam Cannon who visited her often and shared prayer.
And let's not forget her beloved pooch Ami who will no doubt miss her as much as all of us.
