Doris J. Franz's Obituary
Doris J. Franz of Hurlock, MD passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 78 years old.
She was born on January 15, 1933 in Greater Ford, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the Sanford Franklin English and Maggie Hughes English. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Franz on October 11, 2001,
She graduated from Hurlock High School. Doris had worked as bank teller at Maryland National Bank, and also had been employed at the former Service Trucking and Preston Trucking Companies. She also helped her sisters, Carol and Peggy deliver the Star Democrat Newspaper. She loved spending every day doing yard work and working in her flower gardens. She also enjoyed doing puzzles and playing word games with her grandson, Cody.
Doris is survived by her son, Donald F. Franz and his wife, Rhonda, a grandson, Cody William Franz all of Hurlock, five sisters, Betty Lofland of Federalsburg, Mildred Short of Hurlock, Anna Mae Patchett of Preston, Barbara Wharton o Federalsburg, Joyce Brown of Glen Burnie, a brother, Franklin English of Federalsburg, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Carol English, Peggy Ann English, Marie English, and a brother, William “Sonny” English.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Interment will follow at the Unity-Washington Cemetery in Hurlock. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to the service.
