Dorothy A Lord's Obituary
Dorothy A. Lord, a beloved mother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Federalsburg, Maryland, on April 1, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on March 19, 1927, in Easton, Maryland, Dorothy lived a life filled with laughter, passion, and an unwavering spirit of independence.
The daughter of William Harold Chance and Lucy May Hubbard, Dorothy was a proud member of the Chance family, joining her siblings Catherine, Betty, Bobby, Mary Blanche, Charles "Hot Dog", Phyllis, Evelyn, Jean, Carolyn, and Elaine in countless cherished memories. She graduated from Preston High School in 1945, marking the beginning of a journey that would see her thrive in both her personal and professional life.
Dorothy's early career included a role at the Preston canning factory, followed by a decade at Maryland Plastics. Ultimately, she found her greatest joy in becoming a dedicated homemaker, pouring her love and energy into her family and home. A strong and independent woman, Dorothy was not only known for her humor but also for her passion for collecting nutcrackers and salt-and-pepper shakers, treasures that reflected her vibrant personality.
She was married to Earl Dawson Lord who preceded her in death on May 20, 2002.
Dorothy is survived by four sons, Wayne Lord and Ronald Lord both of Federalsburg, Jack Lord of Whaleyville, and William "Billy" Lord of Ocean City; ten grandchildren: Wayne "Butch" Lord, Barry Lord, John Lord, Dennis Lord, Angie Lord-Ennis, April Hollis, Lalaini Leslie, Trish Lord, Chris Holt and Lee Holt. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of family and friends, all of whom will remember her warmth and indomitable spirit.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Jerffrey Lord, a grandson Jason Lord, and her all of her siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 12:00 p.m at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery in Federalsburg.
