Dorothy Thawley's Obituary
Dorothy Bailey Thawley of Federalsburg, MD, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2007 at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton, MD. She was 91 years old.
She was born April 20, 1915 in Quantico, MD, the daughter of the late Willie and Gertie Trader Bailey. Her husband, Ernest Leroy Thawley, preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1967.
She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School class of 1932. She had worked for Maryland Plastics in Federalsburg, and had worked as a bookkeeper for Mitchell Furniture in Laurel, DE, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, a member of the former Ruth Circle at the church, a member of the Federalsburg Senior Center, a member of the A.A. R.P. and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 5246 in Federalsburg.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Jessie Wheatley of Pitman, NJ and Evelyn Coulbourne of Milford, DE, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a sister-in-law, Norma Messick of Seaford, DE. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers, Elsie Morgan, Ada Harding, Mary McMahan, and Ruth Dickerson, Clifford Bailey, William Bailey and Guy Bailey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Dan Walker and Rev. Dale Evans officiating. The Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 5246 will have a service at 1:50 p.m. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
