Dorothy L. Tjaden's Obituary
Dorothy L. Tjaden of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Seaford Genesis HealthCare in Seaford, DE. She was 83 years old.
She was born May 18, 1925 in Preston, MD, the daughter of the late John and Lillie Boevers Dietrich. Her husband, John H. Tjaden, preceded her in death on Mar. 23, 1998.
She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School class of 1943. Besides being a homemaker she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. She worked with her husband in poultry and grain farming, was employed by Hurlock Sportswear and Sisk Fulfillment, and had retired from Maryland Plastics.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aide, a member and former chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 5246, and was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Co.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Margaret Hubbert and Joe of Federalsburg, and Doris Zebley and Ralph, of Preston, MD; two grandchildren, Chris Bell (David) of Federalsburg and Ralph “Zeb” Zebley, II of Seaford, DE; 4 great-grandchildren, Amber Zebley, Nicole Bell, Lexie Zebley and Spencer Zebley and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Edward Dietrich, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston with Rev. Edwin Thress officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the Framptom Funeral Home on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and a Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. service will be held at 8:00 p.m., and on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
