Dorothy Porter Williams' Obituary
Dorothy Porter Williams of Federalsburg passed away on Oct. 29, 2010 at her home. She was 87 years old.
She was born on Sept. 4, 1923 near Hobbs, Caroline County, MD, the
daughter of the late George and Eliza A. Trice Porter.
Mrs. Williams had worked for the former pearl Excelsior Works in
Federalsburg from 1941 – 1943. She had been a homemaker and was
seamstress since 1953. She was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist
Church near Federalsburg where she was a member of the United Methodist
Women. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 5246 Ladies Auxiliary,
serving as a member since 1963. She was also a member of the Caroline
County A.A.R.P.
She is survived by a brother Henry C. Porter, Sr. of Federalsburg, 3 nieces
and a nephew, Henrietta Porter Robinson ( Mike) , Diane Bullock Towers, both of
Federalsburg, Joyce Williams Fluharty (Ronald) of Seaford, and Henry C. Porter,
Jr. (Debbie) of Federalsburg, 2 grand nieces, Tiffany Arthur (Will) and Terri
Blanchfield, 2 grand nephews Jeff Towers (Jane) and Trey Porter (Anna), and a
good friend Gerry Cheezum of Cordova and her family. Besides her parents she
was preceded in death by her husband Donald T. Williams whom she married
on Dec. 18, 1943 and whom passed away on Dec. 31, 1989, a brother, Ernest
George “Tubby” Porter, a sister Edith J. Fortney, and a good friend Bob
Cheezum.
Funeral services will be held on Tues. Nov. 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at
the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Denzil Cheek and
Rev. Karen Bongard officiating. A V.F.W. Auxiliary service will be held on
Tues. at 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow the services at Hill Crest Cemetery
in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00
to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
