Earl Gordon Mast's Obituary
Earl "Gordy" Gordon Mast, age 67, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 14, 2025, at his home in Harrington, Delaware.
Born on July 10, 1957, in Greenwood, Delaware, Earl-affectionately known as "Gordy" by his family and friends-was a lifelong resident of the area. As a teenager, his family moved to a new farm in Staytonsville, where Gordy and his brothers worked alongside their father to build and grow the family farm. He built his own home nearby and, for a time, took over managing the four chicken houses with his wife when his father's health prevented him from continuing.
Though he stepped away from farming early in his life, Gordy never strayed far from the land he loved. He spent his days working outside - managing a successful lawn care, landscaping, and grading business, along with owning Stampcrete of Lower Delaware. He enjoyed hunting in the woods, working on the property, and cherishing time with his children, Tiffany and Josh. He was very involved in his children's school (Greenwood Mennonite - which he also attended), and also was a longtime member of the Gideon's International.
Later in life, Gordy was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, later updated to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), which gradually affected his mobility. In response, he and his wife built a new single-story home-true to form, right on the family farm. There, surrounded by the peace of the countryside, Gordy found comfort and joy until his final day.
Gordy was blessed with 47 years of marriage to his devoted wife, Patricia (Rust) Mast. He was proceeded in death by two loving parents - Alvin "Earl" Mast and Pearly Mast, and a brother, Dale Mast. He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Mast Schrader, and her children - Hannah and Lily; his son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Julie (Miller) Mast, and their children - Kylie, Kennedy, Ella and Parker; by his brother Alvin "Genie" Mast and his wife Peggy (Miller) Mast; and by his sister, Sandra "Missy" Mast. His grandkids were his joy: they brought excitement to his life and smiles to his face and he cherished going to their performances, sports games, and birthday parties.
Gordy's life was rooted in family and hard work. He will be remembered for his quiet strength and devotion to his family. Above all, Gordy's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. It shaped his character, guided his decisions, and gave him peace through life's challenges. He was very aware of God's Grace; he forgave quickly, loved unconditionally, and had no grudges. He was a fixture at his church, Living Hope Fellowship, where he loved and was loved.
A viewing will be held Wednesday evening, May 21, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 pm, visitation Thursday, May 22, at 2:00 and funeral service to follow at 3:00 with the viewings and service to be held at Living Hope Fellowship Church in Greenwood, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Refuge of Hope, P.O. Box 932, Milford, DE 19963.
