Edgar Alan Lankford's Obituary
.Edgar "Eddy" Alan Lankford passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at PRMC in Salisbury, Maryland. He was 81.
He was born on August 29, 1934 in Galestown, the son of the late Scott Ellis Lankford, Sr., and Myra Brinsfield Lankford.
Eddy grew up in Dorchester County and graduated from Hurlock High School Class of 1952. He married Charlotte Hubbard Lankford on June 10, 1952. He died just one day prior to celebrating his 64th wedding anniversary. He had worked for the United States Postal Service as the Hurlock, Maryland Postmaster. He was a member of Unity-Washington United Methodist Church where he served as the cemetery sexton since 1971, he was the past treasurer and president for Little League and was also the manager of tournaments. He served on the Board of Recreation and Parks for eleven years. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles. He also was a horse lover.
Eddy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte Hubbard Lankford of Hurlock, six children: Robert Alan Lankford and his wife Pat of Delmar, MD, Patricia Weaver and her husband James of Springfield, VA; Charlotte Bradley and her husband Don of Hurlock, Judy Lankford of Hurlock, Dixie Lee Lankford of Federalsburg, and Scott R. Lankford and his wife Laurie of Georgetown, DE; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother, Robert Lankford and his wife June of Seaford, DE; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten siblings: Margaret Bailey, Pauline Knowles, Eleanor Bennett, Scott E. Lankford, Jr., John "Jack" Lankford, Alfred Lankford, Dave Lankford, Irvin Lankford, Paul Lankford and Myra Ann Lankford, and one grandson, Clay Bradley.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. the Unity-Washington United Methodist Church in Hurlock. Interment will follow in Unity-Washington Cemetery in Hurlock. The family will receive friend’s two hours priors to the service at the church.
